In the past months, our public chat box, http://go-chun.chatango.com/ , has encountered some problems related to spam posts and anonymous fans. Unfortunately, despite our persistent effort in cleaning the chat box, some problems still occurred. With that, I decided to create a chat room with a higher level of security and privacy. The new chat room can only be accessed through invitation. It will require some information from fans, but rest assured that those information will be used only to verify the identity of fans who wish to join the chat room.
It is definitely much easier to go to a chat room which wouldn't require registration or password, but there are also a lot of risks to consider.
1. Since the chat box is free and public, it is unavoidable that spam posts will appear as the number of people visiting increases.
2. The identity of people inside the chat box will be harder to determine. Trolls may come and go.
For me, rather than prioritizing everyone's convenience, it is much more important to have a better and safer chat room. The registration process wouldn't even take days or weeks, so it's not really much of a trouble. This move is not intended to neglect other fans or worse, divide the fan base. I hope that everyone will cooperate with our team as we take a step towards a more sound and intact chat room.
