130105 [News] Girls’ Generation has got a record
Girls’ Generation is back. Just days after releasing a new album and music video, the first ladies of K-pop have set a new record.
Psy better watch out because “I Got a Boy,” which was uploaded on YouTube on Tuesday, has become the most-viewed K-pop video in the shortest span of time.
Within just 55 hours the clip chalked up 10 million views, the biggest number for a K-pop video in that time period.
Kicking off the new year with some fresh hip-hop beats and a new look, Girls’ Generation has been on the go since its fourth album’s launch on Tuesday.
In just one day, the album was a huge hit, landing No. 1 spots on the iTunes charts of Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia.
It managed to do well in Western countries too, ranking 10th and ninth on Australian and Swedish iTunes charts.
On Thursday, the group took to the stage for the first time with its new song through Mnet’s music chart show “Countdown.”
